A woman who took her car to the dealership for a “free” oil change ended up receiving an extensive list of repairs for the vehicle.

The complaint was shared by content creator Madeleine Grace on her TikTok profile. In her video, Grace began by explaining that because her car is new, she received one year of free oil changes at the Delray Toyota Service Center.

When she took her car in for an oil change, a dealership mechanic told her there was a nail in one of the tires. At that point, the technicians said she would need to buy a new tire.

When Grace asked whether they could simply patch the tire, they refused. They then presented her with a series of additional services she would have to pay for, including new windshield wipers and a new air filter.

Grace declined. She then decided to take her car to a trusted local repair shop. There, she discovered that the dealership had likely tried to take advantage of her.

According to the mechanics, her tire was perfectly fine and did not need to be replaced. In addition, they even recommended which air filter she should buy and said they would teach her how to replace it at no extra cost.

“They were like: one, there’s no nail in the tire. And two: go down the street, buy these two air filters — they told me exactly what to get — we’ll show you how to install them or we’ll do it for free,” Grace said.

Her video has already accumulated more than 17,000 views. In the comments, users shared similar stories. “I bought both filters for my car and cabin for $12 on Amazon and all three wiper blades for under $20. I hate dealerships,” one wrote.

“Dealerships, always scamming people,” another lamented. “Dealerships are the worst for service and consistently lie,” pointed out a third user. “That’s why I [always] go to my local mechanic. The dealership is a rip-off,” added another.
